An Appeal and Offer to the Yugoslav Nation

Yugoslavia was a great dream. The dream of a nation where many different people live together in brotherhood und unity. The dream of a nation where the workers are at the same time entrepreneurs. The dream of a nation where the people can manage their affairs for themselves, where every voice is heard and even the state itself in the end becomes obsolete. An utopian land of liberty and solidarity. A vision intended to bring peace, prosperity, and unity to the Balkans, that conflict-ridden region where Orient and Occident meet. We all know that in the end it did not went well. Not because the idea was bad. But rather because Yugoslavia had financial problems and the austerity measures which were dictated to Yugoslavia by its creditors lead to mass poverty. Poverty lead to anger and despair. This was exploited by some corrupt pseudo-communist politicians and far-right dissidents and former N#zi collaborators.

To achieve their selfish goals, they deliberately stoked nationalist hatred, with the result that people who had lived together for decades as neighbors, colleagues, and friends suddenly began to torment and kill one another. The Yugoslav Wars are among the darkest chapters of history. It is all the more remarkable that there are still people today who identify as Yugoslavs, who view Yugoslav as their nationality and refuse to be pushed into a different national identity. The steadfastness of these people is heroic. War and barbarism can destroy a state, but a nation lives on as long as there is even a single person who considers themselves a member of that nation. Thus, the Yugoslav nation lives on. With humility, we honor the sacred former Yugoslav soil upon which we intend to establish the Free City of Panagua. It is only fair that the Free City of Panagua, as a proto-state and capital city of the Parliamentary Monarchy of Duckionary extends a hand to the Yugoslav nation. We expressly recognize the Yugoslav nationality as an ethnic group. Furthermore, as political parties in Austria, we advocate for the recognition of the Yugoslav nation in Austria as an autochthonous ethnic minority.

Just as the Yugoslav nation emerged from people of diverse ethnic groups and nations, so too is the Duckonian nation emerging from people of diverse ethnic groups and nations. The Duckonian nation will always regard the Yugoslav nation with great sympathy, and Panagua is intended to be a home for Yugoslavs as well.
